There are 4 types of chickpeas in the market: Pea Tak Khan , Chickpea Do Khan - Chickpea Seh Khan - Falafel Chickpea

Tak Khan Chickpea: This chickpea is the coarsest Iranian chickpea and its dimensions are 10 mm and have a high quality.

Chickpea de Khan: This chickpea is a combination of 50 to 50% of chickpeas sizes 8 and 9 mm.

Chickpea Sah Khan: This chickpea is a combination of 30 to 30% of chickpeas sizes 7, 8 and 9 mm.

Falafel chickpea: The smallest  chickpea is falafel chickpeas and the size of this chickpea is between 4 and 6 mm.

Chickpeas have a low glucose index. This indicator indicates the rate of increase in blood sugar after a meal. Diets with low glucose index help control blood sugar.

Chickpeas are divided into 3 categories in terms of color:

White Peas / Yellow Peas / Black Peas

White peas and yellow peas:

Yellow peas, which are considered as pea chickpeas,  are cultivated in West Azerbaijan  province  and  black peas in Hamedan  province.

The best Iranian white chickpea is specific to Kermanshah  province,  and this  chickpea is also cultivated in Lorestan  and  Hamedan  provinces.  

The white chickpeas of Lorestan and  Hamedan are not similar and white and It’s color is slightly slightly yellowish and green.  

Chickpeas are a good source of some minerals such as magnesium and potassium, known for their potential to improve heart health.

Notable points about  Iranian chickpeas:

First point: The purchase price of Iranian chickpeas  depends on its size and the most important point at the time of purchase is the proportionality of the price  and size of the purchased chickpeas.  

Second point: Paying attention to the percentage of chickpea sizes is also important, for example,  three-khanid chickpea  with a small size greater than its coarse size will have a lower price.

Third point: In addition to the price and size of chickpeas ,Whether chickpeas are harvested this year or last year is very important

How to cultivate:

Chickpeas are cultivated in a field of agriculture for one year and rotating with wheat and barley.

This rotary state strengthens and renews soil nitrogen and no longer needs to use nitrogen fertilizers.

Chickpeas contain folate. Folate plays an essential role in the construction and repair of DNA,  thus preventing the occurrence of cancer caused by  DNA  mutations.
